The following will guide you through installing components for Joomla.

What is a component

A component is an add on or plug in which can be installed to bring addtional functionality to your content management system CMS. A component can range from a photo Gallery to a fully functional forum which is fully intergrated into your Joomla! web site.

How do install a component

1) From the administrator console select the menu item Installers and Components.

2) Download a component from the Joomla Extensions web site.

3) The component will come in a zip file format which you can automatically install via the administrator console.

4) Now you have that cool component from the installers / components menu select Browse and choose the zip you have just down loaded.

5) Now click on the Upload File & Install button

6) A message will be displayed to confirm the component installation was successful.

7) To view and use the new components select Components menu item.
